Illumination

My practice of illumination has spanned several years, and is largely influenced by the works and styles of the Timurid, Mamluk and Ottoman eras. More recently, I have incorporated the design language of Seljuk Anatolian stone and wood carving into original designs.  Working with natural pigments which I make myself, pieces are rendered onto carefully prepared paper with skill and precision.

More recently, my studies have brought me to the realm of Western Medieval manuscript illumination with Maestro Massimo Saccon of Studio Vellum Cividale, where I am studying the use of vellum and parchment in place of paper.
